„Behind the Dam” – Tammsaare Theatre

Tammsaare Theatre invites you to Juuru Community Centre to watch a moving and thought-provoking performance „Behind the Dam” – a story of people whose souls are filled with feelings and stories seeking an escape like water gathering behind a dam.

The performance is based on Conor McPherson's play and translated by Peeter Sauter. The piece was directed by Tiit Alte.

Life in a small Irish village flows gently – news is rare, people few, and time moves at its own rhythm. But something more than just water gathers behind the dam – there remain trapped the emotions, memories, and pains of people. What happens when that dam breaks at some point? This is what the performance speaks about – human fragility, inner strength, and the need for redemption.

„Behind the Dam” is a poetic and deeply meaningful story that brings to the audience the complex feelings and subtle currents of quiet lives of ordinary people. It is a journey through silence, friendship, loss, and love – like water finding its way through stones and time.

The production is supported by Estonian Cultural Fund.
The premiere took place on June 10, 2025, at Peningi Manor.
