The legendary avant-garde and ironic rock band NOM is going on a European tour again, and as part of this, the band will also visit the Baltic states, including Estonia: 4.11.2025 in Tallinn (Prive Live Club) and 5.11.2025 in Narva (Art-club Ro-Ro).

NOM is an abbreviation of the Russian phrase "Neformaalnoe Ob’edinenie Molodeži" – in Estonian "Noorte Mitteametlik Ühendus". This term was used by the official Soviet media in the early 90s to describe youth groups that were alternative to the Komsomol. The band NOM was formed at that time in St. Petersburg by students and former classmates as a mocking and ironic alternative to the serious rock trend.

Musically, NOM did not limit itself to one genre – they experimented with everything from garage rock to minimalism and comic opera. The lyrics draw inspiration from the tradition of Russian absurdist poetry (Kosma Prutkov, OBERIU, Harms, Vvedenski, and others).

Critic and oppositionist Artemi Troitski referred to NOM as the “relentless Russian satire's last bastion” – a title that sounds even more significant today.
